Summer is well under way and it’s a great time to tackle all those landscaping projects you’ve been putting off since winter. We’ve put together some DIY garden ideas using timber decking products such as our Premium Pine Decking. Decking timber is extremely versatile and there are plenty of ways to use it beyond the obvious. Check out our ideas below to get you started.

1. Deck Pathway
If you can lay a deck, you can also create an attractive timber decking path to your front door or through your garden to your back deck. This would look great if you have an existing deck, or you could build a decking path when you build your new deck!
2. Privacy Screen
Decking timber isn’t just for decks – why not create a simple and attractive screen to create an outdoor room linked to your living area? Make sure the smooth side is facing in, unless you like the look of the textured side.
3. Decking Sun Lounger
If you’re looking for something a bit more technical, how about building a sun lounger or daybed out of timber decking for a rustic look?
4. Deck & Built In Seating
A great way to add extra outdoor seating for your family or guests is to build box seating on your deck using the same decking timber, for a uniform look. Create a couple of lift-up or hinged panels on top and you’ll also have additional storage for cushions, candles and other items.
5. Decking Steps
If you have more than one level leading up to your house or back deck, creating some simple steps from decking timber will avoid the need to build concrete steps which can look pretty unattractive. Not only do decking steps look great, you can make them larger to create a nice feature and make them safer for kids and the less mobile.
6. Wheelie Bin Cover
Disguise your unsightly wheelie bins or air conditioning unit with a custom made cover made from decking planks. This is a great idea for hiding anything that you can’t move elsewhere, even turning it into an attractive feature.
5. Timber Bar Top
Create a dream bbq area with a built in kitchen or bar top made from decking planks. Build a timber frame or use breeze blocks and simply attach decking timber to the top for a handy outdoor eating area.
